Question

Router

Dec 1, 2015 1:01PM PST

I rent a modem TC8305C from Comcast and use my ASUS RT-N56U router. I pay for "Blast" service. I want to buy a modem and return TC8305C to Comcast. Questions: Which modem shall I buy and do I need to replace my router? It was suggested that I get a SB6141 modem and a router with 802.11ac protocol since I use several devices with Wi-Fi particularly Video Streaming such as Netflix with AppleTV. Your recommendation will be appreciated.

Motorola Surfboard Extreme. Which is both a modem and router. They also have a model with the modem only and you could get another router. The thing with router even that broadcast 2 bands 2.4 ghz and 5 ghz is the 2.4 ghz is used by many devices and has lots of traffic and the 5 ghz is blocked by walls. My PC is far enough away the using 2.4 is faster.
