Question

Router Suggestions

Nov 11, 2015 4:40PM PST

Hello all,

I am having issues streaming off of my Samsung Smart TV and am hoping a router can fix this issue. Computers, smart phones, and tablets are working just fine on the current network setup.

Current Setup:
- Comcast Blast 75+ MBPS Internet
- Motorola Surfboard SB6183 600 Series Modem
- Linksys EA6900 AC1900 Router

Devices Used at Home
- iMac (hardwired to router)
- (2) MacBook Pros
- Samsung Smart TV
- iPad
- (4) iPhones

What are some suggestions that I should consider? Netgear NightHawk X4?

To "fix" the samsung I usually forgo samsung's WiFi. I'll get wired on powerline networking.

Also, for the Samsung use a better DNS like Google's at 8.8.8.8

I haven't thought about hardwiring the TV to my network yet. I guess the reason is, is that the modem & router are two rooms away from the TV (family room). It doesn't seem like a feasible project for my home layout. Darn.

These TVs don't have good range.

If you call it in, most of the time they have you move it to 20 or less feet to the router. Any reduction in distance may help as well as the DNS change.
