Router Mbps Low

Aug 18, 2009 10:47AM PDT

We have several computers in the house. Couple PC's (3 PC Laptops, 1 Desktop PC) 1 Mac Laptop. We have a Tereyon Modem linked to a Netgear RangeMaX WPN824v2, the Desktop PC, links to the #1 port on the Wireless Router, and obviously internet port is hooked up to the modem.

I'm getting very crappy speeds when it's hooked up wired or wirelessly through the router. Maximum 10Mbps, but when I connect directly from my modem to my computer, the connection exceeds 20Mbps.

I have OpenDNS on the router, the SPI (I think it's SPI, SP something) Firewall is also disabled.

You guys have any recomendation to increase the speed to the exceptional around 20Mbps, through the Wireless Router?

Thanks,
Alec

Wireless Network Type/Protocol

Your post is a bit unclear, but it sounds like you are having slow speeds transferring files between computers?

If that is the case, it's possible that your computers on Wireless are using different Network freq. Like A,B,G,or N. When your router see's this it does have to slow down to a lower speed to accommodate the slowest network connection. but thats just with wireless connections to your router. The wired computer should have full speed of your router 100/1000MBs unless transferring files to these wireless computers.
