Oct 3, 2004 12:56PM PDT

I am concidering buying a 4 port pci slot router.
What i need to know is if a pci router performs the
same as a stand alone router.also since its a internal
router would the pc holding the the pci slot router
have to be on so the second one could operate.
this router would be used with a dsl modem.
Thanks

These are nice devices but tend to demand more of the owner as to installation and knowledge. The answer is yes, but I will not provide the support. I think the vendors deserver that if the manual is lacking.

Why this model?

I got one of these a few month back. It is nothing more than a 10/100 PCI NIC, with 4 RJ45 Jacks. It operates more as a HUB then a Switch. The card its self is not a router, you will be required to install some software based router. And will also need a second network interface, such as another NIC, or USB DSL Modem.

The card gets hot, so I mounted a fan on the HS.

Have fun.
