Router firewall & linux firewall

So what's the story ? Is my Dlink Dir-655 firewall good enough so I can turn of SELinux etc ?
Small home network, 4 windows PCs & a Fedora file/web/mail server.

Linux and similar OSes are not required. Given the OS design the only reason I find the firewall needed is the owner ran Windows at one time.
