roll type label printer

Mar 30, 2010 4:19AM PDT

I am looking for a roll type label printer for address labels (approx 3x1" size). I print generally 200-800 labels per day with up to 100 of the same label. I do not want them to "cut" after each label and need the labels to stay on the sheet until they are used. Any recommendations out there for an economical label printer for our business?

I see Zebra printers. These are used daily for hundreds of labels a day. The CFO isn't complaining.

Maybe these are not for you but it is what they use daily, year in, year out.

I use laserjet printers for making labels at the family store. These are your basic mailing labels but the s/w accepts anything that's an Avery std., so if you have a generic brand it may refer to Avery type xyz123. I do use only laser sheets, but it can use a roll of labels. The roll feeder as found in other shops is nothing more than a stand and the laser printer MUST have a "straight feed path". In other words, no bends or curving of the paper media. If you print using a roll, then your label s/w MUST have a setup to engage roll media. Also, the roll media can be "pre-printed", thus you fill-in the required fields. This is added cost and you need to find vendor that supplies this. A expense dedicated printer like a Zebra, etc. using roll media and any s/w will generate what you want. Not the desktop models but the HD printing needs of a stockroom or mail office that wants to print 100-1000's at a time.
