Rogue Malwarebytes

Sep 2, 2014 11:27AM PDT

Hi Cnet Community:

I recently download a anti-malware software called malwarebytes from the cnet site. I am suspect that this may be a rogue software. Has anyone else had an issue with malwarebytes from the cnet site?

Don't use that site.

How about Download.com which is full of downloaders that install other things. Why not avoid all that and get it from MalwareBytes own site?

I'm surprised

I'm surprised that the malwarebytes and other security companies would allow their products to be distributed by download.com if they're tacking on other garbage that would potentially tarnish their image as a reputable company.

Sadly it's become the norm

Just last month I installed Foxit's PDF Reader from Foxit and it was polluted as well. Download.com is not a site to get apps from today.
