Roaming User account

Nov 23, 2003 1:10AM PST

Hi There;

I use my laptop when I'm away from home. The question I have is can someone
tell me what I need to do to creat a roaming user account so I can log
on to my computer at home.

My e-mail address is colinprokop@hotmail.com

Don't do this. Security with XP on this is "not good."

You can verify this by asking in the Security Forum, but even a few days ago, exposing a Windows XP box with all the patches available to the internet still was exploitable and another new patch arrived a few days ago.

There is some hope in that you could access your files via a Secure method with free software called OpenSSH. The software is GNU copylefted so it's free. Start with http://www.openssh.org and look for WinSCP for a graphical transfer program.

This is nice since you only have to let one port open to your machine and SSH is about as secure as it gets.

And you shouldn't post your email address on forum...

It's an open invitation for more spam. However, if your hotmail account is like mine, more spam probably wouldn't be noticed. Wink
