except one time a squirrel chewed the cable.
Buy your own modem and router. Super easy. Buy a modem, connect it to the router, attach PCs, wired or wireless.
I am using Verizon DSL and its reliability REALLY sucks (out of service now and then often for DAYS), so I am considering switching to Road Runner cable internet. Would anyone advise me on the following, thanks:
1. Is Road Runner cable internet service reliable? For example, would its downtime be less than, say, a few hours a week in average?
2. Road Runner charges a lot for wireless internet, free wireless modem but $50 initial charge for EACH desktop or laptop ($200 total for my desktop and 3 laptops), then $10 per month recurring wireless fee. Question: can I just buy Road Runner regular internet cable service for 1 desktop, then connect it to a wireless 11g router that I buy myself (I think these cost around $100 or less), in order to use the Road Runner ISP service on my other 3 laptops around my house? Is this technically feasible? Is it hard to set up?
Thank you for any advice!
