Rise in number of trojans this year

Dec 3, 2003 4:33PM PST

A significant rise has been noted this year in the number of backdoor trojans, which open up holes in operating systems enabling attackers to implant remote access tools and take control of an infected PC, the anti-virus firm Sophos says in its latest virus and worm round-up.

The most prevalent trojans of 2003 included Graybird, which poses as a patch for a security hole in Microsoft Windows, and Sysbug, which poses as photographs of an erotic encounter.
