RIP...Ed McBain

by TONI H / July 14, 2005 4:52 AM PDT

Evan Hunter age 78 passed away. He wrote books under the name of Ed McBain. His 87th Precinct series was by far the most popular of his writings.

He wrote the Blackboard Jungle and the screen play for The Birds.

This guy was my favorite author and I read everything I can get my hands on by him. Fell in love with his 87th Precinct series with the first book I read and was on the 'notify' list with the local library for years to have them let me know every time a new one came out.

What a loss.........

But his influence on police novels and "dark" fiction, movies, etc. is undeniable.

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
