Rip DVD scenes with high quality

May 18, 2004 1:12AM PDT

I am experimenting with creating "previews" to available movies, and need to rip scenes from DVDs to AVI format on my PC.

The DVD rippers I find seem to severly reduce the resolution of the ficture.

Any advice?

The loss is usually because most will compress or recompress so to fit a full movie on recordable DVD or CD.

As such, AVI "format" is your likely culprit. You may have to research how to control compression settings and how to even turn it off.

Ripping from motion picture movies?
Sep 13, 2011 6:19AM PDT

I notice most people talk of editing their home movies, I understand their is copyright protection on motion pictures but all I am trying to do is remove scenes from a movie. To be more specific I am trying to edit XXX movies to be more appropriate for my girlfriend and I. Digital playground has a lot of movies with detailed story lines I'm just trying to remove the hardcore scenes. Any help on how this can be done? All I currently have is Windows Live Movie Maker.
