Rio S30S is locked!!!

Sep 8, 2004 4:25AM PDT

Hi, guys!! I got a Rio S30S as a birthday gift last year, but it is only now when I am experiencing serious problems with it. Some of the songs I had downloaded into it seem to be locked and I can't access them. When I turn it on, it tells me "No Tracks"; however, when I try to download new songs, that portion of the memory appears as used. I don't know how to reset it!! I am so upset that I am considering throwing it away and buying either a Dell Jukebox or an Ipod.
I will really appreciate any help you can give me and don't worry about writing on technical terms, I am a gadget-freak, so I will understand, thanks!!!

Look at rioworld.com for hints and maybe new firmware. Be sure your mp3 isn't some odd bitrate.

connect your s30 to your pc. open up rio music manager. Under the tools menu choose format. this will clear the memory.
if it continues to happen, check your s30 to see which version of firmware is installed. then check the rio website to see if there is a newer version. upgrade to the newer version. this should solve the problem

same issues

Actually I am having the same issues as the post here. My Rio Nitrus is only one year old, it takes the most recent firmware flash successfully. But it still goes back to the "upgrader" screen on booting. I called tech support, they said I am out of the warranty period by only a short while, so they will have to charge me $150 to replace the unit. Well that's what I paid for the unit a year ago. So Rio is not supporting me, I have found many posts on other forums saying that many people are having problems with their Nitrus product, flashes are not going well, tech support is bad, etc., etc..

So DO NOT BUY A RIO PRODUCT unless you want a dead unit in one year!!!
