rio carbon

i just got my rio carbon and i must say this thing kicks butt.i will post my review some other time.the reason for my post is i was wondering if i add the latest firmware to my player will i lose all the tunes that i already have on it.i have no intentions of ever adding any firmware unless my player starts to freak out on me.i have learned that anytime you add firmware to a mp3 player or a cell phone you have a 50 50 chance of the thing ever working the same way as it did before.if you lose the tunes everytime you add firmware what the hell good would that be.thank you

Rio Carbon is the greatest & Firmware update
Feb 21, 2005 12:11PM PST

I agree, After researching a handfull of MP3 HD units , taking a few home for trial & the returning the lemons, I ended up with the RIO Carbon.
It blows the iPod mini away.

No, your data will still be intact after the firmware update.

I just updated mine up to v1.43 without a hitch

The one thing I didn't dig about the v1.43 update was the implementation of a 100db volume limiter to appease some French requirement! It does cripple the volume a hair. You could stick with the v1.32 firmware, but who knows what other bug fixes & patches you will be missing out on.

I emailed Rio tech support & askedt hem to please provide the USA user base with a v1.43 firmware without the castrated french volume limiting in place.

Who cares what France wants or requires???
