RIGHT CLICK PROBLEM

by steelman / June 24, 2004 6:54 AM PDT

no matter what webpage is up, if I right-click my mouse, there is an entry called "free pron galleries" I do not want it there. Obviously at some time during my surfing, that entry was put there. How do I get it to go away. I tried right clicking, so I could delete it, but the porn site comes up. regardless of left click or right click, the site comes up. Anybody smart enough to know how to get rid of the entry? thanks

Start with an online scan from antivirus.housecall.com.
Then find, download and run adaware, spybot s&d and cwshredder. They won't harm, and they might find more stuff you don't like.

If these four tools don't find anything, or if you prefer the direct attack: see http://www.the-it-mercenary.com/forums/Help/posts/215.html
for a registry edit.

Simply don't click on it, if you don't want to see the site.

And note that one doesn't have to be particularly smart to find the above link using google. Otherwise I wouldn't have found it ;-).

Well I tried everything you said but to no avail, soooooooo I guess I'm dumber-n-a-rock. Even when I view the registry I see nothing about the FREE PORN GALLERIES, so I dont know what to delete. Any more ideas? I know I can just ignore, but the kiddies worry me.

It's more than likely it's somewhere in the registry. Did you do a Edit>Find (or is it Edit>Search) for 'porn'?

If you can't find it, try blocking the site it points to, either by means of the hosts-file, or by means of Content Advisor (only in IE6). Although I'm not sure if Content Advisor works for this exotic way of going to a site. Details in http://reviews.cnet.com/5208-6618-0.html?forumID=6&threadID=27074&messageID=305047. Your kids might like the redirection Edward O'Daniel proposes!

Hope this helps.

I didnt solve it. Kees did! It was indeed in the registry. I did a search for "porn" and there it was. Took it out of the registry and now its gone!!!
