I wonder why when I right click on the start button, the explore option is faded and am not able to click on it. Thanks, John

y'all....

1. Let me suggest that you become familiar with the "idiosyncrasies" concerning certain options when utilizing TweakUI v1.33. Please access that link, and at your leasure, access any hotlink concerning a subject which may be of concern. Also, be advised that some of the articles in the MS library have not been updated to reflect certain changes when utilizing the newer version of TweakUI -- some articles have not been updated and some options may simply be missing because Active Desktop is not installed. Items most affected, which you may be concerned with are:

Most Recently Used List Missing from File Menu and Recently Used File List Option Unavailable
No Users Icon Visible in Control Panel
Missing Drives in My Computer and Windows Explorer
The Network Neighborhood Icon No Longer Appears on the Desktop
Web Style and Custom Options Unavailable on General Tab
Stretch Option for Desktop Background Is Missing
Underlines Disappear from Menu Items
Toolbar Commands on Taskbar Shortcut Menu Are Unavailable
Error Message: Folder Does Not Exist
Wallpaper Is Not Loaded When You Select an Active Desktop Theme
No Search Results Are Returned After You Disable Search Results
Commands Unavailable on Start Button Context Menu
Log Off Command Missing From Start Menu in Windows 98
Toolbars Menu Commands Are Unavailable in Windows 98
Cannot Start Control Panel Tools with Disable Show Control Panel
System Policy Custom Desktop Icons Not Downloaded

2. TweakUI v1.33 configures itself differently for each version of Windows it runs on. You also no longer have scroll to see the tabs as you did with the "older" (Click to see an example screenshot) version included with Win98.

John, Do you by chance have TweakUI installed? If you do open TweakUI and under the My Computer tab make sure that you have all drive letters checkmarked, click Apply/OK. The problem you have may be do to the above reason. I don't know which version of Windows you're using but if it's Windows ME I'll bet that's the problem if you have TweakUI installed.
