Right-Click Context menu size problem

When I right click on an empty part of the desktop on my PC (Win XP sp3) the context menu size is distorted; please see the following screen capture:

This only happens when I right-click on the Desktop (either empty space, or a file on the Desktop) ... Right-clicking within a folder (using Explorer) works fine.

I've tried searching for similar issues, uninstalling various applications and using ShellExView to disable various context menu elements, but have come up empty.

Has anyone come across an issue like this?
