ridding computer of swagbucks app

Oct 30, 2018 5:17PM PDT

I have a mac os x El Capitan version 10.11.6 Amazon had this ad for swagbucks..getting paid for purchases. It pops up often on start up and I never even used it. I went to the website and "deleted" it but it's still on my computer...still pops up. How can I get rid of this?
TIA

It Usually Takes A Couple of Steps..

First, uninstall the program using the normal steps.

Next, be sure to clear out any Toolbar/Extension that your browser has received from SwagBucks. You didn't tell us which browser you're using but the instructions below for Windows should get you there even on a Mac.

Chrome users

In your browser menu, select Settings > Extensions > Swagbucks Extension.
Make sure the Extensions tab is selected.
Select the Swagbucks Extension
Simply click the delete option and agree to the removal of the extension.
Restart Chrome

Firefox users

In your browser menu, select Tools in the drop-down.
Select Extensions.
Click Remove next to the Swagbucks Extension to uninstall the extension.
Restart Firefox.

Safari users

Open the Finder application and browse to Applications.
Scroll down to Toolbars and click on Swagbucks.com.
Double-click on "Uninstall".
Fill in the "User name & Password" and click the OK button.

Hope this helps.

It Could Show Up As Something Else...

Frequently, it shows up as some other strange program installed, like "Babylon" or similar. See the link below for other removal instructions for mac.

Here, I'd also install the free version of Malwarebytes for Mac and run scans with it to remove the malware.

Hope this helps.

Removing swagbucks with mojave
Nov 1, 2018 6:36PM PDT

Hi, and thank you. The only extensions listed are dropbox and evernote. I thought I removed coochman(maybe spelled wrong)a while ago also but it showed up in scan.I installed Reimage Cleaner and ran scan but didn't buy it. Coocman showed on that but not swagbucks. So nothing with an unusual name is seen anywhere, and malware bytes says no threat.
