RHEL5 - No Longer Connecting to Internet

Jul 26, 2010 12:07AM PDT

All,

I have a rhel5 server that has been configured since about March of this year. At around May the internet access quit working. This server has a static IP address, with two dns servers and gateway configured. My server can resolve any internet address just fine. This server can access anything on the local area network just fine. Any server on the local area network can communicate with this server (access the httpd, ftp, ping, etc.). When doing a trace I can see the server getting to the main router with no trouble. This server is a VMware machine on a virtual lan, which all the other servers on the same virtual lan and esx server can access the internet just fine. I have disabled iptables and ip6tables just to ensure they aren't the culprits. Any advice out there would be greatly appreciated.

You have to consult net provider.

Doesn't make sense.

That doesn't make any sense at all. Notice I said all the other VM's going through the virtual switch have access to the internet, thus no issue with the internet provider.

So double check router settings

Because:
"When doing a trace I can see the server getting to the main router with no trouble."
Basically server just works as you said yourself.
