RFK Jr rants...

Jul 11, 2007 12:09AM PDT

Since few people actually watched the Live Earth concerts this rant was missed by many:

And so I am going to tell you this, that the next time you see John Stossel or Glenn Beck or Rush Limbaugh or Sean Hannity --- these Flat Earthers, these corporate toadies, lying to you, lying to the American public, and telling you that global warming doesn't exist --- you send an email to their advertisers and tell them that you are not going to buy their products anymore.

Flat Earthers? Hmmm. Who does that sound like? Whether you agree with him or not, don't these "greens" realize that they sound like crackpots when they use this kind of rhetoric?

Not allowed to disagree with them I guess.

And what kind of rhetoric is "Captain Ozone?"
Jul 11, 2007 1:17AM PDT

Do you happen to recall who came up with that sobriquet for Al Gore, EdH? (Hint -- he used to live at 1600 PA Avenue).

Come on Dave,
Jul 11, 2007 1:24AM PDT

don't take this thread "negro" on us (or do I mean "south"?)

Actually, no...

Bill Clinton? Never heard that one. Not too awful, is it?

Tell us. Got a link?

"Captain Ozone" became synonymous with ...
Jul 11, 2007 6:07AM PDT

radical environmentalist unconcerned with facts and strong on junk science clear back in 1990 after Captain Ozone came onto the scene in a comic strip and "music" video so it is understandable how it came to be applied to Gore (immediately after publshing "Earth in the Balance: Ecology and the Human Spirit").

Unless you can offer irrefutable proof that it was a former occupant of the White House you might want to recant because many outside the White House applied the term to Gore and a few others of similar ilk in various forums considerably before Bush 41 did so in 1992. Bush only picked it up and made use of it.

Even you can likely locate some of those posts courtesy of Google and Google Groups.

Is it a "foot fetish" you often appear to exhibit?

- Collapse -
Wrong, EdO.
Jul 13, 2007 12:59PM PDT

It was in 1992 when Bush/Quayle were claiming that anyone concerned with the (then controversial) holes in the ozone must be an environmental extremist. The skyrocketing skin cancer rates since then (especially in Australia) show who was right (er... correct)!

You sure don't pay attention DK ...

or is it a result of skimming again?

I already pointed out within my response that algore (as well as some others of similar fondness for junk science) was already being referred to by that appellation PRIOR to 1992 when Bush picked it up and made good use of it.

Couldn't get to page but
Jul 11, 2007 1:23AM PDT

Glenn Beck was talking about it. RFK Jr also said they should be arrested for treason. Glenn wanted to know if he should be executed, jailed or fined for disagreeing with the cause of global warming. RFK Jr (or his people) did was on the phone agreeing to appear on the program when I left the car.

Not sure what you are talking about...
Jul 14, 2007 1:47AM PDT

but how is it relevant to RFK's rant? Do you think people are traitors if they don't buy Global Warming?

- Collapse -
I would think
Jul 14, 2007 3:29AM PDT

that it would be quite entertaining to compare and contrast conduct on the House/Senate floor. But what he may be referring to is the Vice President correctly telling Senator "Classified leaky" Leahy to go f himself

- Collapse -
I'm sure you're right...
Jul 14, 2007 3:42AM PDT

I'm sure you're right with that reference. It would seem to be an attempt to sidestep the Forum no politics rule. RFK Jr. is not an holder of a political office, but the Vice President is.

"what he may be referring to is the Vice President correctly telling Senator "Classified leaky" Leahy to go f himself"

In a professional setting such language is never appropriate. The fact that you think it is... is very illuminating.
- Collapse -
Illumoinating..
Jul 14, 2007 5:38AM PDT

Yes, it is distressing to hear the Vice President using "Hillary language" like that. But if anyone deserves it, it is Leahy.

Now, if we could discuss RFK's little meltdown...

- Collapse -
Quite frankly,
Jul 14, 2007 7:40AM PDT

I am a heck of a lot more concerned that a Senator is still in office after "leaking" classified information then I am of a swear word.

- Collapse -
Yeah, I Googled it and found that...
Jul 14, 2007 5:34AM PDT

But it's not in the same league as RFK's insane rant. Unfortunate but understandable language. If there IS a traitor around it is surely Leahy.

But whatever. Heaven forfend anyone should deal with the topic when they can distract form it.

- Collapse -
Got any more...
Jul 14, 2007 8:20AM PDT

totally off the wall, irrelevant distractions to bring up? This is NOT about Bush's war strategy.

Just want to be aware of who it is calling people traitors, and who it is that has no respect for dissenting or doubting viewpoints, since y'all seem to like to throw that around at others quite a bit.

- Collapse -
Not irrelevant at all
Jul 14, 2007 8:23AM PDT

It burns you up when someone calls your patriotism into question because you don't share their point of view, as well it should. That's my point, Ed.

- Collapse -
So there is NO ONE at all who is anti-American?
Jul 14, 2007 11:50AM PDT

Or are there such people?

And if there are, who are they, hmmmmm?

- Collapse -
Sure there are such people
Jul 14, 2007 10:54PM PDT

But simply disapproving of the Bush Administration or disagreeing with RFK Jr. doesn't make somebody one of them.

- Collapse -
Who said it did?
Jul 14, 2007 11:25PM PDT

My point is that this kind of thing has not been done on such a hugec scale as RFK Jr. by anyone on the "right", as far as I know.

As for anti-America folks, did you catch any of the ANSWER rallies last year? I am very comfortable calling many of those people anti-American.
