Answer
Maybe not just Windows

I believe Firefox stopped including Google search a few upgrades past but you can add it manually. I participated in the Windows 10 preview period but elected not to buy or upgrade just yet. Edge replaced Spartan near the end of Windows 10 development but, as I recall, there was a convoluted method of changing the default (Bing) search engine to that of one's choice. I can't give you step by step and Windows will make you jump through hoops but it can be done. No need to give up.

Nothing illegal with Yahoo. It's a partner of Mozilla. A few month ago Mozilla made it the default search engine in the USA, replacing Google. it's all about money.

But you can make any search engine your personal default, and even add new ones. That's all standard Firefox. Maybe you need to read up a little bit about your favorite browser? https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/use-search-bar-firefox tells about this particular subject.

No need to blame Microsoft or Windows 10 or Edge. That's totally unrelated.
