Restoring advanced appearance properties to original setting

Jun 3, 2005 11:16PM PDT

How do I get my display properties to return to original settings? I changed some settings to improve readability from a distance, but it had unintended consequences, including the start menu taking up 1/2 of the screen, which is what I really want to fix.

Right click an empty area of the desktop....

and choose Properties. On the Settings tab you can adjust screen resolution and color quality to your liking.

Actually, that misses the mark

My question adresses window sizing, font sizes and in particular the size of the start menu. Adjusting resolution does not restore original settings.

Thanks anyhow.

try going into the display properties and then browse over the appearance tab and check for the font size and even try to browse over the effects and the advanced buttons on the same tab and see on the options in there that could be of help.

if not, try performing the system restore.
do you have the specs of your video card?

try uninstalling and installing the device from the device manager. provided you have the drivers for the display adapter (video card)

That sounds promising

The computer is a Dell SC420 server that I'm runnung with xp-pro and has an onboard video card. However, disabling and reinstalling the video driver might just do the trick.

Thanks for the info.
