Restore Windows 7 desktop screen in Win 10

Feb 11, 2018 3:33PM PST

I installed Classic Shell. I dislike the blue "Tiles" screen in Windows 10 after Start. I prefer the retro Win 7 screen with thumbnails over my own Background picture. With Classic Shell I can see this screen load then about 10 seconds later the ugly blue Tiles screen covers the screen I want restored. Can anyone help me kill the Win10 "Tiles" screen?

But then again I don't have W10 in tablet mode. Is yours in Tablet mode?

Did you try changing 'Background slideshow

W+I / personalization / background / slideshow / choose albums for your slideshow = browse / add folder = select the folder that you have your pictures ( background images that you want ) -- then 'change picture every "10 minutes or whatever" and maybe also select "shuffle".
Only a suggestion

Win 10 tiles
Feb 12, 2018 1:13PM PST

As indicated earlier I can see the photo background and thumbnails of the old style desktop, that I want, pop up at Start. But, the Win 10 Tiles screen then pops up over it and covers it permanently. I haven't tried yet, so not sure what that might do. However, from what I can determine from your (multiple people) answers, I'm guessing there is a glitch in the .exe at startup that my install of Classic shell failed to overwrite.
Im wondering if in Win10 the 'personalization' settings are working correctly because I've tweaked and changed various setting and have never had the ability to do much to change that Tiles screen (where an app is selected in Win 10). I can change themes and background photo, but cannot dig my way to removing the Tiles-screen-access to apps so I can just select my app from over the background photo. If there is no solution, I'll give up and tolerate that loathsome blue screen. I thank y'all for your help!

I'm still thinking you are in tablet mode.

How about a good link to the picture?
