Restore Outlook Express data after Windows XP crashed

Dec 7, 2006 4:29PM PST

hi all,

My Windows XP died yesterday, I couldnt get into safemode, it restart everytime it goes into safemode, I couldnt get into normal mode either.

Anyway, I searched for many suggested solutions but all failed to get back into Windows, therefore I could not backup my outlook express data.

Therefore I install Windows XP again in a different directory, without formatting so I can keep everything in my harddisk.

Is there a way to restore the Outlook Express data back to the new Windows XP I installed? everything should still be in the harddisk since I did not format.

I really need the emails and contact list in there, please help me!!!
sigh, should have backup everything first, havent backup for a month.

thanks in advance.

forgot to say.

before I install Windows XP again in a new directory, I have backup (pulling the hard disk out and use external case) the Documents and Settings to Old Document and Settings.

I have managed to restore the emails and folders from Old Document and Settings.

but I still couldnt restore the contact lists, and account info.

yes i found out the extension are .wab and .iaf, but i couldnt find it by windows search file.
so i am wondering are the *.wab and *.iaf only exist if you export them from Outlook Express in the first place?
