Restore outlook Express by using Citisoft

by zillah2004 / December 3, 2008 7:17 PM PST

I had backed up the outlook express 6 before I formatted the Hard Drive by using Citisoft software as shown in the link below

http://www.softpedia.com/get/System/Back-Up-and-Recovery/Citisoft-Outlook-Express-Backup.shtml

After I have done fresh installtion , I am trying to restore the backup archive., but when I do restoring I receive this error :
An ERROR has occured. Please close Outlook Express and Internet Explorer if they are running and retry again
But both Outlook Express and Internet Explorer are not running.

I tried google but I could not find something helpful

Why Use A Third Party Program?
by Grif Thomas Forum moderator / December 4, 2008 12:04 AM PST

Outlook Express has such options without a separate program. I've never used the program you've mentioned because it's not really needed. That said, did you "test" the program before making the move?

If not, then try accessing Citisoft's FAQ's or instructions manual for the program. Here's a link:

Hope this helps.

That May Explain Why Your Program Is Having Issues..
by Grif Thomas Forum moderator / December 4, 2008 4:59 AM PST

It's possible the .dbx files (message folders) were corrupted to start with..

But backing up OE can be done a number of ways.. Simply making copies of the various .dbx files can usually get it done..

I am curious why you didn't repair Outlook Express, (or was it Outlook) before trying to back it up? Unless the entire system was compromised which could also explain why your current program isn't functioning well.

Unfortunately, since you've formatted the drive, it will be tough to attempt other methods to recover you data.. As asked before, have you tried contacting the software maker to fix the issue?

Hope this helps.
