Having a restore problem, No matter what date I try to restore to
it says cannot restore to this date because there has not been
any changes. I have made changes and added new programs but
it does not seem to reconise these changes.

Perhaps there are other issues that may be affecting System Restore.

why restore
by jimc197 / December 7, 2006 10:56 AM PST

I installed the free AVG virus program when I tried to open it,
It said there was an error. I tried to uninstall it but it keep
saying it could not be uninstalled, I tried ctrl, alt, delete.
but it was not running, So I was trying a system restore to get
rid of it.

But the restore still does not work. Is there a way to enter

System Restore Point

In reply to: that worked

set up a restore point like 10:00AM Wednesday,December 6, 2006; select the middle item in the system restore. Check first the My Computer to Properties(left click) and System Restore Tab and check to see if the box is not checked.

When I open system restore I only have two options
1 Restore my comp to an earlyer date
2 create a restore point
When I click on create a restore point
it just ask for a name and says the date and time will be entered

OK, how about Zone Alarm?

There was some old ZA that caused SR issues. We also have many pests (spyware, etc) that corrupt system restore. Which is why we fix what we have to and then turn off and back on SR to get a fresh start.

It appears we must arm ourselves to the eyeballs and more to keep this stuff working. My bet is pest damage.

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
