restart issue

Jun 8, 2009 1:06PM PDT

I have a Toshiba Satelite m3050D. Vista sp1, 64 bit. AMD Turionx2, 4 gig ram. ANYTIME I click "restart" or a program says it will restart the computer, the computer will go to shutdown, the screen will be black, but it never restarts. But, you keep hearing a faint "click, click, click" from the hard drive. I then have to manually turn it off then restart it. It never does this when shutting down, only if you select restart. Any suggestions?
Thanks
Wayne

Call it in.

I have a Toshiba that does that. I'll look into it this summer but for now it appears to be a widespread defect that for now I think people should call in.

Sounds like corruption

with either the power monitoring or driver. Harddisk clicking, sounds like one of my old harddisk problems which I used to have of it trying to stop a disk-accessing process which hadn't been terminated properly, due to bad shutdown. Try updating to Vista SP2?
