Go to Start/Run
type in "msconfig" without the quotes
click ok
select the Selective Startup button
click the startup tab
uncheck all programs EXCEPT those you want to start
click APPLY/ok
you'll be asked to restart the computer
do it and away you go

When I try to put my computer in the stand by mode it turns off completely. I down loaded Microsoft Windows Installer cleanup Utility and it did not reslove the problem. If I reinstall Windows completely will that fix the problem?

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
