resolution problem on new xp install

I had to get an authorized version of xp pro, my computer was hijacked. I reformatted & installed the new disc but the moniter resolution is terrible. I had taken the cnet course for this a few months back but can't get to that. Now, I need to know what to do or if I can go back to any class I took with cnet? Thanks for any help.

If you are talking about changing the screen resolution, just right-click any blank area of your desktop,
select Properties,
select the Settings tab,
change the Screen resolution to some higher value.

If you can't get to a higher value, you might need to install the correct video display driver and/or a correct monitor driver for your hardware.

After doing that, you should be able to change to whatever resolution that your hardware can handle.

If that is not what you are talking about, then please explain.
