Resizing Partition in Win XP Pro

Nov 26, 2003 9:17AM PST

Hi,

My computer runs Windows XP Pro on a 120GB hard drive. It's partitioned into 2 drives, the one running the system has 55GB and the blank one 59GB. I would like to resize the blank partition to 80GB; how do I do that without using Partition Magic? Thanks for your help!

I did this by using Ghost 2002. I 'bounced' XP to another drive and then back onto the original drive and resized along the way.

XP has no tools to do this.

Let's be clear that such procedures are not without risk. The method I use (and continue to) works well since I keep one good copy all along each step.

Exactly why I suggested that reading up on dynamic disks be done.

ALL that is explained adequately IF the info is read BEFORE just diving in and going dynamic.

Just my suggestion -> Be more explicit in the danger or safety of such suggestions. I find people will not read the links in depth or realise what boiling kettle of fish they just jumped into. As such, I hopefully point out "Danger" rather that ask others to research.

This is just a suggestion. You can take it or leave it. My post was simply because I had to deal with another poor soul who lost it all over this one (again.)

Best of luck,

Bob

You can try...

a freeware called Partition Resizer 1.3.4 (has to be 1.3.4 as the author warned) at http://zeleps.com/ . Please notes: Read the FAQ before proceeding the conversion. It might take very long time to resize it.

Good luck,
