Resetting VISTA OS to prior settings

by 02Don / December 20, 2008 9:51 PM PST

I have a Dell Inspiron 530 with VISTA OS. For the last 3 or 4 days I have been getting many very annoying OS screens/messages popping up saying such things as: "Windows Installer", Preparing to install - - - -.", TrayApp, "Please wait while Windows Configures TrayApp - - - - - /Cancel/, STATUS, "An installation package for the Product Status cannot be found. Try the installation using a valid copy of the installation package 'status.msi'."

These and other messages began appearing approximately 3 or 4 days ago and I have no idea what, if anything, I may have changed in the OS to cause this. Does anyone know how I can go about restoring my VISTA OS to its prior settings, hopefully precluding these annoying messages appearing on my monitor?

Thanks everyone! Restoring my OS to about 10 days back, plus reinstalling my HP AOL did the job of eliminating all of the error messages. However, it did not do it on the first 2 or 3 reboots. Took reboots over a 2 day period to get rid of all of them. I expected them to all disappear on the first reboot.

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
