Resetting the [File Types] parameters in [Folder Options]

by robot7290 / November 22, 2005 2:08 PM PST

Hi! I recently somehow misconfigured different actions for the [File Folders] file type under [File Types] in [Folder Options]. Now whenever I go to open a folder, it opens a new window for that folder, even though [Folder Options] is set to browse in one window. And I have tried EVERYTHING, and know the only possible solution is to set the paramaters for [File Types]. Can anyone tell me how? Thanks in advance Happy

Click start, control panel, tools, folder options. On the general tab under browse folders select open each folder in the same window. Click OK and close. If this does not work try system restore to a point when it was working properly.

Yeah, I've already tried both of these. Browse in same folder is already checked, and is being overridden. I need to know how to reset the paramaters.

Tried the second way, the Regedit.exe editing way, and it is now fixed. Thank you!

Sorry to bring this up, but I though why start a second topic for the same problem? Ok, to my problem... I tried the regedit.exe way, and it fixed my problem, to a certain degree. It seems that when I open my hard drive, or a folder directly in the hard drive, for example (C:/Program Files), it will still open a new window. It seems just the hard drive and the first folder directly in a hard drive will open a new window, everything else in fine. Can someone tell me how to go into regedit.exe and fix this problem? Thanks!
