Rescuing from a vehicular accident...

Firstly, my thoughts and condolences to any affected in the bridge collapse on I-35W in Minneapolis. I surely hope for a swift, safe, and respectful response.

Some news from a first-responder news site:

Here's a few products that aid in SELF-extrication from a vehicle:

Re the vehicle window punch....

that you have tied to your mirror (http://www.resqme.com/). I have two of the larger type punch in the side pockets of the front doors of my new pickup attached to long cord/string as they will probably bounce around during a ducking/accident and will make it more likely to find. Since being around water quite a bit, I started carrying a regular cheap little steel punch in my 1988 truck when my crazy brother-in-law convinced me to get electric windows. I had always thought that hand roll down windows were safer, but after seeing demonstrations of both electric and hand roll down, it makes no difference because of the water pressure.

PS..I paid $1.99 each at the Dollar Store for the larger punch. Believe the small punch is better to find like on a key change or rear view mirror, but cost $9.95 each at Amazon. Haven't checked Ace Hardware yet.
