Rescue Data?

Dec 14, 2009 7:57AM PST

My external Maxtor HD, series 3200, can not be found by any of my 3 computers all using Windows XP, when plugged in directly.

When I plug it into the USB port, the computer makes the standard sound that new hardware was added, but it's not able to be found.

Can I rescue my data?

Strangely, the same thing happened to me
Jan 1, 2010 8:27PM PST

I have my Seagate FreeAgent Go for quite a couple of years now. Recently I find that it have become unreadable by my 2 laptops & desktop (one laptop is running on XP, the other laptop & desktop Vista).

The light flashes normally, but on My Computer the drive is only read as "Local Disk". Moreover, when I try to open it (double-click or right-click > Explore), Windows Explorer always hangs.

Thanks R. Profitt for the suggestion. & FUNMAN818, I hope you can resolve your problem as well. Happy
