the 22" (1680x1050) will display more info than the 19" (1440x900). some people find the 1440x900 a step backward from 1280x1024. (if you're used to 1280x1024, the 19" is wider but shorter; with the 22" it's wider and taller).
the dell may have a technically better picture, but most folks can't tell the difference between a slow panel and a fast panel or low contrast and high contrast especially with productivity apps, browsing, etc.
Looking at an Envision Professional E218C1 22" vs. a Dell E198WFP 19"
(both are approx. same $'s) Monitor will be used in a basic system
for general purpose duties, i.e. not a lot of high-speed gaming, etc.
The Envision, in addition to the larger screen, has built-in speakers
and microphone which the Dell doesn't. My biggest concern is that the
Envision has a listed contrast ratio of 700:1 vs. the Dell 1000:1
Is that difference in contrast ratio a big deal? Anyone have firm
opinions on one vs. the other? Thanks for the help.
