Request Help in trouble shooting laptop problem

Jun 24, 2009 9:49PM PDT

Here are the symptoms

1. When switched on, the hard drive seems to run OK but the screen is blank.

2. I tried switching the output to a external monitor, but nothing appeared. (I could see it trying so the signal from the laptop was getting through.)

3. When I turned the laptop off by holding down the on/off key, there was quick flash of the log on screen before the computer went off. (The screen was way off center, but I may have caused that in trying to get it back)

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

like you had set it to display the window spread over two displays, thus explaining your 'off-centre' problem. Tried 'Fn+ Switch Display' to your external monitor first, auto-detection button on your external display to recalibrate, then restart without the external monitor.
