There are a number of ways to remove left over listings in the System Configuration Utility by it would sure help if we knew a little more about the computer, specifically the operating system...With spyware programs, Try running all of the spyware removal tools below. They will frequently remove the registry entries that cause the programs to remain in msconfig..

In addition, you can edit the registry by locating the unneeded entries, then deleting them from the registry..UNCHECKED items in "msconfig" can normally be located at either of the paths below on Windows 98/ME:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run-(that's Run minus)
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run\
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run- (that's Run minus)

And at these paths in Windows 2000/XP. (Windows 2000 will only have "msconfig" if you've installed it manually.):

HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Shared Tools\MSConfig\startupreg
HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Shared Tools\MSConfig\startupfolder

Before making any changes to the registry, be sure to make a backup in case you make some removals that aren't correct.

Hope this helps.
