Welcome to the forums. In order to start a new topic, simply open the original forum page such as the link below, then click on the "Start a new thread" button which is the upper right area.
Unfortunately, when a hard drive, flash memory drive, or any other type of storage drive goes bad, your best bet is to have backups for all such devices.. Eventually, all such drives will go south especially the cheap/free versions.. If the data on the drive is important, you can try some of the various Recovery options such as those at the link below:
Google Search for "Recover Data Flash Drive
The free program below might do the job for you.

I don't know how to post message from scratch, I just took any message posted here and hit reply to do my posting...
Subject: what to do when usb drive won't read
if you have usb drive size under 512mb or any size and they are not the u3 technology system and this drive was working fine all along and suddenly it don't read.
is there any trick to get any pc to recognize this drive so I can pull out the data? these are trade show freebie usb drive and the company who gave them out is not commenting it.
this problem sometimes also is found with name brand pc.
I tried on a pc with win ME, 2000, xp no luck
