Not a problem. You're using a VGA cable at 60Hz with no interference from the power supply.
Does it happen if it's hooked up to a different computer?
I'm trying to determine if it's the video card, or the monitor itself, and knowing this would give you a pretty clear indication on the source of your problem.
Keep me posted!

by sentin7 - 11/3/08 8:00 PM
so I have my hp pavilion laptop connected to my syncmaster 226nw monitor and Im getting these static waves rolling upwards on the screen. It's only noticeable on dark backgrounds. Any way to make this go away?
Thanks

I have a few questions to see if I can help diagnose your issue.
1. How is your monitor hooked up? DVI or VGA?
2. What is the length of the cable, and is it relatively new?
3. Is the cable secure on both ends with the prongs screwed in?
4. Is your cable properly shielded or next to the power cord?
5. What is the refresh rate setting on your monitor and video card (Do they match?)
6. If you change the refresh rate, do the scrolling "waves" move faster or slower?
Thanks!

3. sorry, forgot about this post.
hey thanks for your help. so im a complete computer noob so ill do my best to answer your questions but I don't really know all of that info. Im not sure if it's DVI cord or VGA. I have 2 ports on the back of my hp pavillion laptop and it's the blue, smaller one. lol. is that good enough to tell you which one it is? Also, yes, it is fairly new (about 5 months) and screwed in tightly.
Also, my refresh rate of my computer is @ 60 (the only option there is) but im not sure where to find the refresh rate for my video card.
The power bar for the laptop is sitting on the floor while the laptop is sitting up on the desk so i don't think it would be causing any interference.
any suggestions?
thank you for your help.
