Replacing the battery in a RCA/LYRA RD2840A mp3 player

by backdoorman_53200 / August 22, 2006 9:26 AM PDT

My son accidiently plugged one of our RCA/Lyra 40GB mp3 players into the AC power supply/rechargers of one of our Western Digital 250GB external hard dirves (which I then discovered do NOT operate at the same voltage)... After making a faint "poping" sound the mp3 player no longer powers up.

Given that the mp3 player is no longer under warranty - how do I open the case & see if it's repair is as simple as replacing the battery, before I shell out for an expensive service call ?
