Question

Replacing my current HD with a SSD

Apr 3, 2018 10:26AM PDT

I am interested in replacing my HD in my desktop with a SSD. I am currently running Windows 10. The computer in several years old. (Maybe 5 yrs). I have been receiving a black screen on BOOT up saying
"1720-Smart Hard Drive detects imminent failure.
Failure Drive: ST31000524AS Failing Attribute #05"
I have been receiving this warning for several months. I have backed up all of my files, so I am not worried about losing anything when my computer doomsday strikes. I would like to just up grade my machine, rather than replace it. Otherwise it is running smoothly.

You buy a ssd that's large enough to accept all the data on the hdd.

Then it's just a simple clone and swap.

Seagate Nytro SDD

Hi 1Whitespot, that is a great idea! We can recommend you our Nytro SSD drives that are incredible fast and reliable. You can choose from a wide range of capacities and prices.

Furthermore, we would also like you to consider our FireCuda drives that have the characteristics of both HDD's and an SSD's which makes them SSHD's. They are 5x faster than a regular drive and come with the same amount of storage capacity.
