Most receivers don't have CD/DVD or radio so what about the same machine you had before.

Hello, I'm new here so thanks in advance for any assistance. I had a 10+year-old Sony Dream System surround sound system (DAV-something) with the 4 speakers installed in the walls of our game room. Our house flooded last August (along with thousands of others here in South Louisiana) and I lost the system; although the speakers were OK, including the wires that I maintained access to when we re-built. When I went to the box stores and asked what type of system I should get as a replacement, they all had different ideas and spoke in tech language that my old analog brain didn't comprehend. I would like to set up something to play TV, AM/FM/CD/DVD/Bluetooth, as well as my old Technics SL-1400 turntable, which survived and still works. (I also have my Pioneer SX-636 receiver, if that could be useful.) Is it worth trying to find something that can re-use the existing speakers, or just start over with new ones? The room has a cathedral ceiling and doesn't have the best acoustics, so real audiophile capabilities (and costs) would be overkill, and I don't have a huge budget. Any and all help/suggestions/advice appreciated.
Thanks,
Jon

I don't necessarily have to use the old receiver; if I did it would be as much for looks/nostalgia as functional. (I actually have an old jukebox shell that I'm trying to figure out how it could house the old turntable and receiver, but that's another project.)
I thought about trying to replace the old system but it's 10-15-year-old technology and I'm not that sure about buying used electronics. I'm ok with a new receiver or amp to which I could connect the various separate components; just not sure how to best put it all together and what part the old speakers would play, if any. Thanks
I buy a few used/refurbs when I can get the job done cheap.
Your old 636 is just stereo which looked to fail as a replacement because you wanted surround.
All that aside there's CNET Reviews on receivers but my cheat sheet is the Amazon Best sellers. What about the top 1 to 5 units at link? Hint. 7.2, 7.1, 5.1 etc can be configured to 4 channels and so on.
