Replacement Speakers for 15 year old Denon stackable set

Jul 6, 2005 1:02AM PDT

I am planning to buy the YAMAHA MCR-E600 Bookshelf system in a few months when I am more financially flush. It is about $500 See the folowing thread:http://reviews.cnet.com/5208-7596-0.html?forumID=60&threadID=108532&messageID=1236179

In the meantime, I would like to replace the speakers on my old Dennon ($1100 in 1990) system as a visitor blew out one of the speakers and the bass on everything sounds horrendous as a result.

The Dennon Audio system D-200 is amp gives out 40 watts per channel.min.RMS, at 8 ohms from 20 HZ-20kHZ with no more than 0.5% T.H.D.

I don't want to spend much as I see this as a temporary fix--there are other problems with system and it will go completely I am sure in a few months.

Any suggestions as to speakers?
