Question

Replacement for windows explorer in Windows 7

Jan 25, 2013 12:16PM PST

I hate the windows 7 windows explorer. Can anyone point me to a program that will do a better job? I used to have a program called Data Detective many years ago and loved it but can't find anything like it now. I am probably not googling the right words.

Win explorer replacement

What don't you like about win explorer? it's actually not bad, up to a point. There are many replacements, both free and paid. Which is right for you depends on what you want.

I have been using Total Commander for many years, and it has a big following. It displays dual windows to simplify file managing. It might be too advanced and customizable for some people, though I don't even use all its numerous capabilities. You can try it for free with no time limit, only with a splash screen to bother you.

Do a search for win 7 file managers.

I've yet to find a "replacement"

I have used many other file/folder browsers over the years. Gyula's Navaigator for one because it does not pretend to do anything else. There is no "My Computer" with faux items.
