Replacement battery issue - Inspiron 1501

I purchased a replacement battery for my Inspiron 1501 last week from Laptop Depot - the battery is a Sony, but is an exact match for my original battery... I put it the battery in my laptop the battery charged. It charged to 100%. When I remove the ac adapter, the laptop dies. The computer recognizes the battery, charges it, and tells me that it is 100% charged.

Any thoughts?
