Replace CD/DVD Drive with USB

There are plenty of converters out there that allow you to connect an IDE device (Hard Drive, CD/DVD Drive) to a PC via the USB port. Does anyone know if there is a device that allows you to connect / interface a USB memory stick (thumb drive) to an open IDE port? This is not for a PC. This is for a music recording device that has an internal hard drive and a CD burner along with some other interfaces that are part of the musical recording world (S/PDIF and ADAT). I'm not interested in buying the interconnect hardware to utilize these interfaces. Currently, I have to transfer files from the recorder to my PC via CDRWs and it is a slow process. It would be much more convenient to use a USB thumb drive to transfer files to my PC for final editing and archiving. Thanks.

Thanks for responding. Good idea, but I'm not sure the card would be readable by a pc or Mac. I need it to be transportable.

I can answer that one.

I guess the compact flash would have had to be loaded somehow. Was it done on a PC in a standard SD slot?

I booted the machine from the XP CD

Installed to the CF card in TRUE IDE mode.

The goal was a diskless boot PC.

I am guessing you are not wanting to experiment. If so, I'd see if a local shop can do this work for you.
