Repeat short segments of a podcast...help!

I need an MP3 player or Ipod that has the capability to playback small portions of a podcast
of conversation..something like 6 seconds worth, when I need to re hear it.
Can you tell me if there are models of Ipod (or MP3 players) that will do this?
Also, I have heard that gaps are caused by looping and I was wondering if these
gaps would affect listening to looped conversation, adversely?? many thanks for
any replies!
