repairing corrupted photo

Dec 4, 2009 4:51AM PST

Some of my JPEG photo has been corrupted: you can see the photo but there is a kind of blue on the bottom half of the photo. This happened during a transfer on my main hard drive.
I have two questions:
- any software that i can use to repair these photos? i can see the picture so it is not totally corrupted .

- any software to make sure it doesn't happen again. I transfer my photo on a external hard drive now and again, but i have never thought about verifying manually every time evry single photo ?

thanks for your help, nathalie
