Diagnosis is key to such work. While I think I'm an able diagnostician I have decades of troubleshooting electronics behind me. I also admit I learn something new once in a while so that goes with the territory.
-> So what's going on here? Part of the problem is the sheer volume of repairs stacked up at the shops leads to new techs and standardized testing. That combination may reduce costs for say a thousand repairs but if you put a seasoned tech on the line, the number of repairs per hour would liken be less and this is unacceptable to mass merchants.
Did they really find a rip off here, incompetence or a failing repair system?
a local tv station in Memphis did a report last night testing several computer repair shops. The only problem with the computer was the harddrive was unplugged. Interesting results - especially the charges for just plugging in the wire.
I have not had any outside work on my computers in years but it looks most repair costs these days would be more than the computer is worth - for the average user.
