Rented consumer laptop spying settled

You read about it but now it seems the court has ruled. Notice the last line of the article, the s/w maker feels it didn't do anything wrong. I think, they should have been shutdown and fined up the yahzoo, but nope. I can understand the premise of what they wanted to do, BUT that's not what happened. If they didn't abuse this then certainly it was beyond poor judgement, it was intrusive. Honestly, don't you feel they were in the wrong?
